The
Community We Serve
Spanky’s began in 1981, with a desire to help
local families find a better way to manage their no-longer-needed
clothing and kids furniture without discarding, wasting, or dumping
these items. Emphasizing the value that remained, good stewardship and
wise reuse became a driving core principle at Spanky’s.
Along with the goals of building and giving things another season of usefulness was the desire to
be a good neighbor. It was important from the beginning that Spanky’s
contribute in real ways to the quality of life in our area. We have been
proud to be a part of many important efforts to make things better.
Among them:
- Spanky’s is an important donor
to both FISH (Friends in Service to Humanity) and the Salvation
Army.
- Spanky’s is politically active
on several boards and committees to help plan the growth and
vitality of Vancouver.

- Spanky’s is a supporter of Gifts
For Our Community that raises funds for many local non-profits.

- Spanky’s has been a resource for
several training programs to help students entering (or
re-entering) the workforce.
- Spanky’s has donated hundreds of
pounds of clothing to a local church with ties to Romania.
- Spanky’s supports many local
schools with donations for carnivals and fundraisers. We love
kids and those who are helping them get a good education.
- Spanky’s has sponsored many
local concerts for the community to enjoy at no cost.
- Spanky’s is a supporter of the
YWCA, Share House, Women In Action, Open House Ministries, My
Father’s House, and Pink Power (a local fundraiser to benefit
Southwest Washington Medical Center in its goal to build a new
breast care facility).
And……….we are looking for MORE ways to
contribute to our wonderful metropolitan area. If you have ideas for us,
please contact us!
